"What do you mean by upcycled paper?"
We get this question a lot. Upcycled paper isn’t just a blank canvas; it’s filled with character, texture, and history. Artists that have started projects, found some burst of beauty in it and decided it was 'just the thing' to fit into an art project. Working with gently used paper gives your projects a unique edge, whether it’s vintage book pages, maps, or even found treasures like receipts, postage stamps, greeting card scraps, bits of glitter, beads, and old envelopes. Each piece was part of someone else’s creative vision, and now it’s ready to shine in yours.
Recently, there was a donation from an artist who had passed away. Her sisters were at a loss at what to do with her supplies. While at their yard sale, they said they intended to toss it all in the garbage if it didn't sell. The ladies were sad and really wanted to honor her creative spirit. I looked at her journals that she had lovingly made, her well used stamps, paper, scissors and felt that artistic pull. The universe is funny that way. A simple yard sale venture turned into an opportunity to help them get her supplies to the hands of another artist. I felt I could do that.
When we say each sheet and scrap has its own story- we mean it. Maybe it began in an unfinished art project, just waiting for a new artist to take it up. My sister and I spent some time curating these paper kits and would love to see what you create. And as always, using these reclaimed materials means you’re crafting with purpose, keeping unique items out of the landfill and championing zero-waste creativity.
