What We Learned From Ditching the $5 Table

What We Learned From Ditching the $5 Table

Sometimes you make a change… and everything shifts.

We recently decided to take away our $5 table at the farmers’ market. It had always been a busy spot — full of affordable finds, grab-and-go items, and crafty chaos — but if we’re being honest, it started to feel too overwhelming.

People were digging but not really discovering. Great pieces were getting lost in the shuffle. And the overall vibe? A little too much like a yard sale, not enough like a curated maker space.

So we pulled the plug. Recalculated. Rethought the flow.

And you know what? It worked. With more room to breathe and a cleaner layout, shoppers slowed down, asked questions, connected with the products — and with us. The display feels more like Makeropolis again: fun, thoughtful, creative, and a little unexpected.

Will we bring back bargain bins in the future? Maybe. But for now, we’re loving this lighter, calmer setup — and so are our regulars.

The lesson? Sometimes less really is more… especially when you’re running a table as colorful as ours.

What are you making today?
