I Finally Finished My Fabric House. And the Mice....

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when a project finally crosses the finish line — especially one you’ve been dragging around, pinning, adjusting, procrastinating on for way too long.

For me, it was the fabric house.

I had the idea months ago. Maybe years. A soft little home, stitched together from scraps, with windows, lace curtains, and tiny rooms for even tinier mice. And I did start — you know, cut out the felt walls, made some little beds — but life kept lifing. Other projects piled up. The mice stayed homeless.

But last week? I finished it.

I stayed up way too late. I made mistakes. I glued things to the table. But the joy of seeing that soft little house done, mice tucked into their beds, was the kind of proud that only makers know.

If you’re mid-project, stuck in the messy middle, or doubting if you’ll ever finish — here’s your gentle nudge: keep going. It’s worth it. Even if no one else sees it, even if it’s just for you.

(And yes, I’ll be bringing it to the next market. Come meet the mice.)

What are you making today?
