As the year winds down, I’m choosing a different path—one that doesn’t leave me frazzled, overworked, or chasing unrealistic goals. This year, I’m wrapping it up with crafts that feel good to make, not ones that add to the stress.
Instead of pushing myself to "do it all," I’ve been reflecting on what truly worked and what didn’t. I realized that prioritizing self-care brought me back to the creative projects I’d been putting off—like sewing pieces I’d dreamed up but never started. Why hadn’t I made time for them? Was I letting household drama steal my energy? Maybe.
But not this time. I’m letting go of the pressure to be "productive" for the sake of it. I’m choosing projects that bring joy, not just checkboxes on a list. Sewing a new project, cutting paper for collages, or simply organizing supplies with my favorite music on—it all counts as care for myself.
This year, I’m giving myself permission to create for the sake of creating. No deadlines, no perfection, just the quiet satisfaction of making something with my hands. It’s a new kind of resolution, and honestly, it feels like the best one yet.
What are you making today?
